Choose one of the following areas to investigate:

Immigration

Find out what happened to one of the immigrant groups after they had arrived. You could look at the Jews, The Chinese or the Lascars.

If you wish, you could make a study of Irish Immigration which took places slightly earlier in the nineteenth century.

Emigration

Find out more about the schemes which were operated by local authorities and charities, such as Dr Barnardo's to help people emigrate to countries like Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
