1. Using Picture A describe the journey of a ship from the River Thames into the London Docks. Explain what happened at the points marked by the letters a, b, c, d and e on the picture.
2a. Make a list of all the ways in which the dock companies tried to make the docks secure places for unloading and storing goods.
b. Which of these do you think would have been the most effective? Give reasons for your answer.
3. Picture C and Source D come from a book about London at the turn of the century. How reliable do you think they are?
