Children's Services Volunteer Mentoring Team

Information
How are mentors selected?

Once we have received your completed application form we will invite you to meet the team for an informal interview. We will take up your two references and an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure will be carried out by us as this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

We are looking for specific qualities and values first rather than any particular background, experience or training. We also consider your enthusiasm and willingness to work within our approach and your ability to make the necessary time commitment.

We look for mentors who are sensitive with a clear and friendly communication style and the ability to get on well with children and young people. You will need enthusiasm, responsibility and excellent listening skills with lots of common sense and a tenacity to see things through. Probably most importantly you should have a sense of humour and fun.
