Children's Services Volunteer Mentoring Team has presently two areas of work. These are young people who are referred to us via approved or registered agencies, and young people who have referred themselves..
Our work with the referring agencies is based on working with
“Harder to reach” groups of young people aged 11-17.
These groups are:
- Young people in public care
- Unaccompanied asylum seekers
- Young people who have been excluded from education, employment or training
- Young people who are involved with the Youth Offending Team
Young people who self refer benefit from making links with a mentor from their local community. The mentor would assist the young person to develop their personal identity, skills, knowledge and abilities. The mentor's aims are to provide support to a young person making their transition into maturity. |
