The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) registered organisation.

All volunteer applicants will need to complete an enhanced disclosure criminal records check before they can start mentoring. This is to ensure the safety of the children we work with, although it is important to note that not all criminal convictions would preclude you from working with the Children's Services Volunteer Mentoring Team. Please list any in Section 11 of the Volunteer Application Form.

The Criminal Records Bureau will require the following information: The name of our organisation: Children's Services Volunteer Mentoring Team, The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

  • Your name and address including the month and year you moved into your property (if you have lived at this address less than 3 years they may ask for further addresses)
  • The job you are applying for: Volunteer
  • The name of your present/previous employer if any
  • Date of Birth
  • All or a minimum of three proofs of identity from the following: National Insurance Number, Birth certificate, Passport, Driving licence, Marriage certificate, and a utility bill.
The disclosure application form will be sent out two weeks before the training course commences. We would then ask you to bring the completed form and as many proof of identity as you can produce to the first day of training.

N.B. All police checks are strictly confidential to the registered persons within Children's Services Volunteer Mentoring Team
