Out of School Hours
Promotion of Out of School Hours Learning Activities
Investigative reports have shown that
those schools able to sustain greater participation have a systematic
ongoing approach to promoting activities, offering incentives
for regular attendance.
These included free drinks and food, incentive certificates
and a mountain bike from a sponsorship scheme. Successful schools
reported that once out of school hours learning had become part
of the culture, these rewards were no longer needed.
To develop a whole school approach to study support and out
of school hours learning activities, it is important to emphasis
the activities being offered by announcements at assembly, school
newsletters, parents' evening, award evenings and in reports
to governors.
This directory is being produced in conjunction with an out
of school hours learning website that can be accessed to provide
information across the borough.
