What are Out of School Hours Learning Activities?
A National Framework for Study Support

Out of School Hours Learning describes programmes of learning
activities that take place outside normal school hours and which
are linked to individual schools; educational provision and
development aims.
Activities can take place before school, during lunchtime and
after school. There are many and varied activities ranging from
sports, arts, chess, drama and dance clubs to exploring the
internet, food and safety, first aid, local history projects,
school newsletter production, book and story telling, ICT clubs
and science projects.
Local community groups whose expertise
can be bought in each term can also provide activities. Resources
for breakfast and homework clubs can also be funded.
